Coaching Children and Teenagers
I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2011 and have worked with various ages in both Ireland and Australia since then. Over the past 9 years, I have really developed a passion for helping children to develop healthy habits and learn skills to navigate our ever changing world. We seem to have such an emphasis on teaching children to be kind to others but we often forget to teach them to be kind to themselves. My goal when working with children and teenagers is to guide them in developing self-compassion, confidence and resilience in order to live happier, healthier lives.
How I Can Help
When working with children and teenagers, I use a mixture of life coaching techniques and mentoring. Life coaching is a great way to help children and young people build self-esteem, set positive goals and deal with difficult issues showing up for them. As a coach, I listen to what the young person is saying and challenge them on their thought patterns, habits and self-limiting beliefs. Where I feel appropriate, I will also offer strategies or suggestions to help the young person move forward.
Some Issues Include:
- Lacking confidence or self-esteem
- Tackling negative self-talk
- Developing healthy relationships
- Emotional regulation
- Managing worries
- Challenging life changes
- Career choices
